Sizing

Power & Energy System Sizing

We design shipboard power architectures around the vessel's operational profile, sized from first principles across the whole system: propulsion, auxiliaries, and hotel loads.

We work out the mix of diesel engines, batteries, and fuel cells that brings operating cost down, partly through better efficiency and partly through lower maintenance. The sizing comes documented, ready to take into procurement and classification.

The modelling, the techno-economic analysis, and the digital design tools all point at one output: a sizing built for your specific vessel rather than generic rules.

Configuration

Optimal Power Plant Configuration

Where the power system components sit affects safety, efficiency, and how long the system lasts. These layout decisions get made early, and they're hard to undo, so they're worth getting right the first time.

We choose distribution voltage levels and lay out transformers, converters, and switchboards to cut losses and improve redundancy, against the classification rules that apply to your vessel.

Management

Dispatch-Optimised Energy Management

A well-specified system still needs to be run well. We develop the operating plan that decides when to dispatch batteries, diesel engines, and other assets to meet a changing load. That plan is usually what decides whether the promised ROI shows up.

Batteries handle a wide range of onboard roles: peak shaving, load levelling, silent operation, spinning reserve, and more; diesel engines cover endurance, backup, and longer power demands. The strategy is built on the vessel's measured load profile.

We add constraints like minimum ON/OFF times to cut component wear and improve fuel efficiency, while keeping the vessel running reliably. The crew can follow the dispatch plan, and the operator can verify it.
